As entrepreneurs, we often embark on journeys filled with passion, creativity, and the hope of making a difference. Whole Mama was born out of a desire to support mothers in their wellness journeys, providing resources, products, and a community for nurturing both body and mind. However, after careful consideration and reflection, the decision has been made to close the doors of Whole Mama. This blog post aims to share the reasons behind this decision, the lessons learned along the way, and the gratitude we hold for our community.
*The Decision to Close*
Closing a business is never an easy decision. It comes after countless hours of dedication, hard work, and love poured into every aspect of the company. For Whole Mama, the decision was influenced by several factors:
1. Shifts in Priorities: As life evolves, so do our priorities. As the leader of Whole Mama I found myself at a crossroads, with personal commitments and new opportunities emerging that required my attention and energy.
2. Market Changes: The wellness industry is ever-evolving, and staying relevant requires constant adaptation. Despite our best efforts, we faced challenges in keeping up with the rapid changes in consumer preferences and market dynamics.
3. Financial Sustainability: Like many small businesses, Whole Mama faced financial hurdles. Despite our passion and dedication, the numbers did not align with our vision for sustainable growth.
Every journey, regardless of its outcome, provides valuable lessons. Here are some key takeaways from our experience with Whole Mama:
- Community Matters: The support and connection we built with our community were invaluable. Engaging with mothers and hearing their stories reinforced the importance of creating a space for shared experiences and support.
- Adaptability is Key: The ability to pivot and adapt to changing circumstances is crucial for any business. We learned that flexibility and openness to change can lead to new opportunities, even if they don’t align with our original vision.
- Self-Care is Essential: As a wellness-focused company, we preached the importance of self-care. However, we realized that we, too, needed to prioritize our well-being. Taking time to recharge is vital for sustaining passion and creativity.
As we close this chapter, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who supported Whole Mama. To our customers, collaborators, and friends—thank you for believing in our mission and for being part of our journey. Your encouragement and feedback have shaped our growth and inspired us every day.
While Whole Mama may be closing its doors, the spirit of our mission lives on. We are excited to explore new avenues and opportunities that align with our passions and values. We hope to continue contributing to the wellness community in different ways, whether through personal projects, collaborations, or simply by sharing our experiences.
Closing Whole Mama is bittersweet, but it is also a moment of reflection and gratitude. We are proud of what we achieved and the connections we made along the way. As we move forward, we carry the lessons learned and the love for our community in our hearts. Thank you for being part of this journey with us, and we look forward to what the future holds!
Feel free to share your thoughts or experiences in the comments below. Let's continue to support each other on our paths to wellness and growth!
The Blissful Benefits of Prenatal Massage
Pregnancy is a miraculous journey that brings an array of physical and emotional changes to a woman's life. It is a time of anticipation, joy, and, at times, discomfort. As a woman's body undergoes these remarkable transformations, it is essential to prioritize self-care and relaxation to ensure a healthy and happy pregnancy for both mom and baby. One highly effective way to achieve this is through prenatal massage.
Prenatal massage, specifically tailored for expectant mothers, offers a multitude of benefits that go beyond just relaxation. Here, we delve into the significance of prenatal massage and how it can enhance the overall well-being of both mom and baby.
1. **Physical Relief**: The physical changes that occur during pregnancy, such as weight gain, postural adjustments, and muscle tension, can lead to discomfort and pain. Prenatal massage focuses on alleviating these issues by targeting specific areas of tension, promoting better posture, and enhancing overall comfort. By reducing muscle soreness and improving circulation, prenatal massage can help expectant mothers feel more at ease in their changing bodies.
2. **Emotional Support**: Pregnancy can bring about a rollercoaster of emotions, from excitement and happiness to anxiety and stress. Prenatal massage provides a nurturing and calming environment for expectant mothers to relax, unwind, and connect with their growing baby. The release of endorphins during massage can help reduce stress levels and promote a sense of well-being, creating a positive emotional state for both mom and baby.
3. **Bonding Experience**: Prenatal massage offers a unique opportunity for mothers to bond with their unborn child. The gentle touch and soothing strokes of the massage therapist can create a peaceful and intimate connection between mother and baby. This bonding experience can have long-lasting effects on the emotional well-being of both mom and baby, fostering a sense of closeness and love.
4. **Improved Sleep Quality**: Sleep disturbances are common during pregnancy due to hormonal changes, physical discomfort, and emotional stress. Prenatal massage can help promote relaxation, reduce anxiety, and alleviate physical tension, leading to improved sleep quality for expectant mothers. By achieving better rest and relaxation, pregnant women can better prepare themselves for the demands of childbirth and motherhood.
5. **Preparation for Birth**: Prenatal massage can also play a crucial role in preparing the body for labor and delivery. By focusing on the pelvis, lower back, and hips, massage therapists can help loosen tight muscles, improve flexibility, and enhance blood flow to facilitate a smoother birthing process. Additionally, the relaxation techniques learned during prenatal massage can be valuable tools for managing pain and stress during labor.
In conclusion, prenatal massage is not just a luxury but a fundamental aspect of self-care for expectant mothers. By prioritizing their well-being through regular massage sessions, pregnant women can experience physical relief, emotional support, bonding with their baby, improved sleep quality, and preparation for childbirth. It is a holistic approach to pregnancy that nurtures both the mother and the growing life within her, fostering health, happiness, and harmony during this transformative time.

Hello Baby Moon families,
I have loved serving you as the owner and director of Baby Moon over the last few years. The countless families that have come through the doors have expanded my heart in so many ways. Much as I’ve watched my own children grow into the young people they are, I’ve watched the growth of Baby Moon grow right along with all of the sweet babies and children coming through the doors each and every day.
I’m a firm believer in following your heart in all things. Sure, I have a business mind, but there is still this soft squishy part of me that just feels and senses when it’s time to move forward. It’s very similar to my work as a doula. As I usher new life into the world and watch this tiny life be cuddled by new parents, there is often a moment that let’s me know it’s time to head home, give my kids a love squeeze, and head to bed.
Now there is a new moment arising. Baby Moon has a new owner in town! Many of you know her from prenatal yoga and many others of you will get to know her in the coming months. Keisha came to Baby Moon just as I came on board as the owner. Over the years she has fallen in love with this place, become a mother herself, and has a huge heart for the purpose and mission of Baby Moon.
So what’s next? You won’t see much of a change in day to day operations. The lovely Julie Ransdell will still be taking care of you via phone and email and all classes and offerings will remain. I’ll still be doing prenatal consults over the phone for anyone needing guidance with classes, care providers, doulas, and our massage therapists will still be offering their amazing bodywork (YAY). You might find some new paint, an enthusiastic new owner and new future offerings. You will always find and a place where your mama heart can be nourished and cared for.
I can’t wait to see what the future brings! Say hello to the new owner in town, Keisha Snipp!
With love,

Tongue Tied in Lexington, Kentucky: The Breastfeeding Struggle Often Missed
Over the years I've watched as families struggle to figure out why breastfeeding hurts so bad, why their baby isn't gaining proper weight, and why no one can figure out why. Time and again, I've watched defeated new parents, already sleep deprived, try to figure out new feeding methods and solutions when they hadn't anticipated needing to do so.
Not long ago, the Baby Moon lactation team met with Dr. Ashley Tynan to go over her procedures, techniques, and aftercare for revisions in Lexington, KY. After attending a few conferences on the impact tongue and lip ties can have on not only breastfeeding relationships, but also food aversions, reflux, and more, I thought Baby Moon needed to take a step forward in bringing this topic to light. It's become common place for those who aren't breastfeeding specialists to doubt the validity of the procedure, but I can tell you from the countless families who have chosen this, it's not mythical. There is something to this that can literally change a breastfeeding and bottle feeding relationship in a matter of seconds. The following is an interview with Dr. Tynan about commonly asked questions, concerns and more. Enjoy!
What is your favorite part of your job?
Loving on all the babies of course! It is a blessing to help empower women to trust their instincts and be an advocate for their children's health. I guide families through the process and make meaningful connections with them, taking time to understand their goals and help them reach them.
How long have you been doing this?
I became passionate about tethered oral tissues over six years ago when my first daughter was born with them, and so many health care professionals dismissed and misdiagnosed our problems. However, I have been a general dentist performing oral hard and soft tissue surgeries, including frenectomies, for over 11 years.
What can a revision help with?
In infants, it can help with a shallow and/or painful latch, poor weight gain or failure to thrive, leaking milk when breast or bottle feeding, reflux and colic symptoms, trouble with solid foods, and eliminating mouth breathing. Releasing tethered oral tissues also allows for proper tongue position at rest which positively affects the formation of the child's dental arches and encourages proper facial development.
Is it just for babies?
No! It's truly never too late to realize the benefits of the procedure. There are a number of benefits for toddlers, older children, and adults including improved speech, better swallowing, reduced tension in upper back, shoulders, neck, head, & face, reduction/elimination of headaches, tooth clenching and grinding, improved posture, & better sleep just to name a few!
What other therapies do you feel compliment revision?
CST (Cranial Sacral Therapy), chiropractic care, IBCLC (Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant), Oral Myofunctional Therapy, Speech & OT/PT, tummytime!
What made you decide to leave a traditional dental practice to offer revisions?
I wanted to focus my energies and passion on tethered oral tissues due to the lack of resources for these issues in central KY. It's very rewarding to help enrich loving connections between parents and their babies, however they choose to feed them.
When should someone bring their baby to you for revision?
If nursing hurts, or if your baby has been dealing with colic or reflux, I can likely help. Some issues can be resolved without a procedure. I encourage all nursing mothers who are struggling to first seek professional assistance from an IBCLC who is well-versed in tongue and lip tie, like Bonnie Logsdon right here at Baby Moon! If they need a referral, I'm happy to provide one.
How do you do revisions?
I use a state of the art carbon dioxide laser to perform all of my soft tissue procedures. This method is preferred due for many reasons, including less pain, quicker more concise procedures, little or no bleeding, greatly reduced chance for infection, and quicker healing time. Babies procedures usually take under 30 seconds to perform and they are able to nurse or bottle feed immediately after the procedure.
How should they contact you if they'd like more information?
Call our office at (859)687-7009. I will do a free 15-minute phone consultation to help determine if our office is a good fit for your baby's unique needs. A thorough examination is the next step. In many cases, examination and treatment can be completed the same day!
Here at Baby Moon, it is our desire to connect you to those in our community who can make all the difference in your parenting journey. Dr. Tynan is one of those connections. We wish you all the best in your feeding and parenting journey.

My Nipples Looked Like Hamburger
Someone once told me that breastfeeding was natural and shouldn't hurt unless there is user error involved. As a new mother, my self confidence was already in the dumps and this little pep talk did nothing more than make me feel inadequate and frustrated with my own body. My eyes continuously scanned the room for the closest clock as I mentally prepared for the next feeding. I knew I would kindly gaze into my little ones eyes, position myself, take a deep breath, and latch. Stress flooded my entire being as I knew what was coming next. Toe curling agonizing pain seared through my breast, but I gritted my teeth and told myself it was going to be okay and it would get better in time.
My pediatrician told me nothing was wrong. He didn't believe in tongue ties, but sent his associate in to take a look to make me feel better. The other doctor checked and declared that my baby was free from any ties and that the options were to either grit my teeth or switch to formula. Let me be completely honest with you in saying that I wasn't opposed to formula, but I really had a desire to make breastfeeding work. I didn't feel like feeding my baby formula was a failure of any sort, but I also wanted to maintain the goals I had originally set if possible.
I wish I would have known better from the very beginning. I wish I would have reached out for help from experts in breastfeeding. I wish I wouldn't have relied on google and the advice of friends, family, and well meaning doctors who didn't know much about breastfeeding. I also wish my story wasn't the story of many others in our community. A story of wrong advice from kind people, inaccurate information from the people we trust to know the answers, and thinking things would just get better in time.
So how do you figure out where to get help? How do you know if the advice you're being given is up to date and accurate?

Not Your Typical Mom and Baby Place
In much of society, we are told we need to look a certain way, parent a certain way and of course give birth a certain way. What would life be like if there was a place where we all just lovingly accepted our differences and truly believed we were all doing the best for our ourselves and our children?
That place does exist, and it's called Baby Moon.
When you enter a class at Baby Moon you might find a stay at home dad, a woman in business attire, a stay at home mom with a baby in a car seat or a wrap. You might catch the eye of someone exuding confidence and another who's too shy to speak a word. There are lawyers, artists, doctors, entrepreneurs, and those in sales. Am I painting a clear enough picture for you?
Baby Moon exists as a community of parents and children.
Whether we choose unmedicated childbirth, an epidural, or planned Cesarean. Whether we opt to breastfeed, bottle feed, or do a combination of both. Whether we determine scheduling, on demand, or a little bit of each is best for our babies. We are all in this together!
Let's come together in a place that celebrates each person that walks through the door and relishes in every moment that they find meaningful. We can't wait for you to join us and see what everyone in the community is talking about. Come be part of the Baby Moon experience!

5 Reasons I Love Candy Mountain Music
If you haven't had the immense opportunity to take classes with Miss. Sarah, you're missing out. From the moment I heard her voice echoing through the walls of Baby Moon, I had a desire to have another baby. Yes, she gives you baby fever! It's one of those times I think to myself, "if only they had that when my kids were little." moments. The instruction, the compassion, the...
Let me just get to it. These are the top five reasons I love Candy Mountain Music:
1.) Ms.Sarah
She is unlike anyone I've ever seen or known. The absolute love she has for her program is astounding. From singing about putting balls away to locating various plastic insects around the room, she's truly thought of it all. Sarah does this with such impressive amounts of joy and a desire to make music a memorable experience for babies, toddlers, preschoolers, big kids, and adults alike! Making memories with Ms. Sarah should be on everyones bucket list!
2.) Caregivers love it as much as the little ones
You wouldn't think that adults could actually enjoy a kids class, but let me tell you, they do. They enjoy seeing delight on those sweet faces as new concepts are introduced. They love that there is room for self expression and fun. They love that they leave class and have those cute little songs stuck in their own brains for hours after. Week after week they return to see what Sarah has in store for their little ones and they never leave disappointed. Parents, Grandparents, and Childcare facilitators bring children to classes. If you work outside of the home please check out our evening sessions or feel free to send your kiddos with a friend or family member!
3.) Age appropriate
Designed with differing ages in mind, Candy Mountain Music is the perfect class for your baby or child. Classes and activities are tailored to the various developmental stages to keep everyone engaged and happy. No matter the age or ability level, these classes are a perfect addition to your summer, fall, winter, and spring schedules!
4.) Hello, music and movement
When going to a music class you may have visions in your head of sitting in chairs and taking turns banging a drum. Not at Candy Mountain Music! Sarah incorporates music and sounds with movement in classes. The newest offering of yoga/music classes add even more charisma to an already amazing line up. Be sure to check out all of the latest offerings on our website for kids music classes in Lexington, KY.
5.) Unique
Look far and wide. Google it. Ask around town. No matter what you do, you'll never find a program as unique as Candy Mountain Music. Sarah creatively orchestrates every facet of her program. Each theme is brilliantly thought out and defined. Every song sung, every sound heard, every detail seen was planned to an absolute T.

Stretch Armstrong Mom
We get it, we really do.
You're stretched thin and can't possibly fit another thing into your life. You want to have dinner on the table, but resort to take out or canned soup. You long for one on one time with your baby and family, but feel like the evening comes to a close far too quickly. Bedtime is right around the corner as soon as you walk through the door and you haven't even taken a deep breath yet. We see you, we know you're there, and we think you're pretty amazing.
You are strong
You make this crazy thing called life, function. You somehow shuffle life events, work schedules, and more into the few hours we call a day. You sometimes don't even have the luxury of going to the bathroom without an interruption or having a cup of coffee that is hot and freshly poured. Your strength can't always be manifested physically, but we see it through your perserverence and love. You are strong.
You are worthy
You are worthy of self care and love. Giving of yourself and stretching yourself so thin is depleting. Without investing in yourself, how do you fully give back to your family and yourself? When you've completed your work day and you arrive home exhausted, please remember that you are worthy of caring for yourself. You are worthy.
Your are loved
Has anyone told you that today? If not, allow us the honor. You give and they take and sometimes a nice I love you ceases to come out of anyones mouth. Newborns can't show you your importance, they just need you. With all of the needs in your world today, take a moment and know we're thinking of you. Hello there important person, you are loved.
Need some ideas for self care this week?
Remember that making prenatal yoga and BYOB classes a priority are a gift for your sanity and can increase you're ability to love and be present. Schedule a massage, hire a postpartum infant care doula, make sure you get that deep breath, and know you are absolute perfection!
The Beautiful Importance of Prenatal Yoga
I was squatting in the hospital birthing tub, trying to find focus and a steady, deep breath while laboring with my first child. I was not progressing and I wanted to give up on the desire for a natural birth. My doula and my husband helped me out of the tub, put me on a yoga ball, and I felt some relief. I found some focus. Then it quickly lifted, feelings of defeat began running through my mind and my body. I knew I had to move. I knew had to get back to my breath. I got into the hospital bed, turned on my side, and my sweet baby girl was ready to enter this world. She needed me to change my position and my mindset. She came with a fervency and her soul is an empathetic light.
It was my prenatal yoga practice that gave me the tools to stick with it. To breathe with steadiness. To shift my mindset from panic to ease and confidence.
It took my husband and I a couple of years to get pregnant. We checked ovulation, I took hormone pills, we did 4 rounds of artificial insemination, which all failed. We were gearing up for IVF when lo and behold, a positive pregnancy test lay on my bathroom counter… and then another and another and another (because I had to be sure!). I have always wanted to be a mom. And when it didn’t happen easily, I was deeply hurt. During that time, one of the things that helped the most was my yoga practice. I took a seat on my mat and centered myself. I breathed through some vicious anxiety and I moved my body to heal my mind.
After I became pregnant, I found myself at Baby Moon in the Saturday morning class feeling completely at ease. I was meant to be there. Each class I went to, I left feeling utterly relaxed and less worried about the what if’s of pregnancy and birth. As I got further into my pregnancy, I left feeling like my body was opening and preparing for birth. I learned how to breath into my lungs to keep an even breath. I learned how to not push too hard because my body was different and needed me to slow down. I learned how to REST in Reclined Butterfly pose. I learned that other women had the same fears and concerns and body aches as me and I was not alone. And knowing that I wasn’t alone and knowing that I was a part of a community of women gave me confidence.
A true passion was formed in me. I have now been teaching for 4 years at Baby Moon. We are a community of women creating a space where we can be fully present in pregnancy, in preparation for any type of birth experience, and can be heard and seen and cared for. The purpose for every class is to focus on opening the hips, steadying the ever shifting pelvis, stretch out tight shoulders, build strength, bond with baby, and connect to the breath as a tool for being present. I want nothing more than for each mama who enters my room to leave with confidence for their journey and floating on a blissful cloud.
Prenatal yoga played a very significant role in how I approached my pregnancies and in the way I experienced the birth of my daughter and my son. It isn’t just for yogis and the fitness obsessed or women who want to have natural births. It is for ALL bodies, all walks of life, all mindsets, all women. What prenatal yoga does is provide a sense of well being for your pregnancy and prepare you for the birth that YOU are destined to have. For some women, it takes a lot of bravery to step into a prenatal yoga class. For some, they have been waiting for the chance to be there for years. Wherever you are in your pregnancy journey, there is a warm space for you in our prenatal yoga classes at Baby Moon. You deserve to be wholly engaged in your pregnancy and yourself and the precious baby growing inside of you.

The Gift of You
"Wahhhhhhhh Wahhhhhhh Wahhhhhhh WAHHHHHHHH WAHHHHHHH!"
Hey there, I see you. I see you struggling. I see you rocking your baby and looking into her deep blue eyes. I see you doing everything in your power to soothe and love her through her wails. I understand your longing for something to work so you can get back to sleep. Remember sleep? I know you love her through the restlessness and weariness of new motherhood. I know you look at her and wonder who she will become, what she will look like, and how she might change the world for the better. She will, she's got you to guide her through the cries, toddles, and tears.
"No no no no no no!"
Hey there, I see you. I see you looking at your toddler with eyes bulging out of your head. As she screams no at you and runs away. As she hits or bites and you worry because you didn't teach her those things. I see you wonder when these days might move forward, faster rather than slower. I see the light in your eyes as she learns something new and is excited to show you. I watch you love her unconditionally and without abandon. I know you see something special in her. You wonder if her block towers will lead to construction or architecture as a profession. You breathe in her little being as you embrace the cuddles, read a book, and kiss her head goodnight.
"Knock knock, who's there?"
Hey there, I see you. I see you sitting in amazement of how much your little one has grown. Cuddles are hit or miss and she's become incredibly independent. I watch as you sit in amazement at her preschool programs as she belts out the chorus above everyone else. I love how you laugh at every single knock knock joke although it makes absolutely no sense and encourage her to come up with more. I see you pour yourself into her through guidance and love. As you bake cookies, watch a movie, blow kisses from across the room, and marvel at how tall she's gotten in the last few months, know your investment in her is abundant.
In this season of love and giving, it's easy to look back and dismiss all you've done for your child. I see you. I see all of your hard work throughout the happiest of days as well as the most challenging of days. I see you and I thank you. I thank you for investing in them and giving all of yourself as you watch them grow in compassion and love. You, my friend, are one of the greatest gifts of all. You are a mother.
Best gifts for preschoolers
With Santa coming this month, many parents are wondering what gifts to leave under the tree for their children. It seems these questions come up year after year and we're here to help! Times may have changed over the years when it comes to toys children love, but one thing remains the same, the joy children feel when they receive a gift that speaks to them. The perfect gift can come in experiences, pretend play, and more.
For the child who loves to build
Wooden blocks allow for imaginative play while bringing in a nostalgic feel. The various shapes and sizes leave building and stacking a new adventure every time they are brought out for play. A more modern approach to wooden blocks is an amazing invention called Magformers. Combining colors, movement, and sound, this wonderful toy sparks imagination in even the adults who come in contact with it. Magnets within the structure allow not only for ease of building, but also ease of cleaning up. Just gather them up in a pile and they stick together!
For the child who loves to pretend
Imaginations soar with butterfly wings or super hero capes. Kids who love to pretend also seem to enjoy supplies for making forts around the house or pretend food for a tea party. PVC tubes and joints along with sheets can bring joy and excitement. Fort Magic forts are well loved by many, hold up well, and can be expanded year after year for larger structures. Be sure to pick up a few king sized sheets for decorating and concealing the outside of the fort. Purchase washable markers and let your child decorate the outside for some extra creativity.
For the child who loves music
Give the gift of an experience they'll never forget. Candy Mountain Music is a treasured class in Lexington, KY. Children and adults alike enjoy Miss. Sarah's dynamic and enchanting classes. Attend a full session, or snag a space in a specialty class. December's theme is the Polar Express! Register soon to reserve your space in all the fun including a pretend snowball fight!
For the child who loves animals
Horses have been shown to reduce anxiety in children and to foster compassion and kindness toward furry friends. If your child becomes giddy with excitement when animals are present, consider the gift of horseback riding. The Could 9 Farm offers riding lessons paired with grooming techniques and proper handling of horses. Their two resident ponies are sure to delight every horse-loving child. Gift Certificates are available if you want to be the favorite Aunt or Grandparent this year. Watch their eyes light up as they get to be up close and personal with their new riding buddy.
Gift giving is in the air. Have you come across the perfect gift for the preschooler in your life? Comment below and tell us all about it!
Child Proof Your Christmas Tree
It wasn't something I'd ever thought about. I'd had to dog-proof the house for the holidays, but this was completely different. Household safety is vital when you have babies, toddlers, and children. Purchasing outlet covers, cabinet locks, and door knob covers becomes part of parenting. As we move into the holiday season, new decorations can create brand new safety hazards that are shiny and bright. It's the perfect storm when it comes to toddlers who are naturally attracted to breakable items and wires.
Bold, bright, and shiny, Christmas trees are part of many holiday decorations. How do you keep your little ones safe and sound with so many breakables and untouchables? We've compiled a list to help!
Get a Baby Gate
Baby gates can do more than block a door way. North States play yard is a great addition to any off limits decor. The hexigon shape fits perfectly around the tree, yet is easily moved if needed for watering a live tree. The structure allows for toddlers to pull up without fear of it toppling over on them and allows them freedom to get close, but not too close to all of the ornaments on display.
Unbreakable ornaments
One of the fears with decorations, is broken glass. The fear of an ornament shattering and your little one getting a piece in their hands, feet, or even mouth, is enough to make to you worry. Invest in some shatterproof ornaments this season and pack your precious breakables away for a few years. Shatterproof ornaments look similar to their glass counterparts, but no matter how many times they drop, they stay strong and look beautiful.
Secure the tree
A table top tree isn't heavy, but a 6 foot tree on the floor poses it's own topple hazard. A small child could easily grab a few branches to pull up on and have the entire tree fall over on top of them. Purchasing a few Command brand knobs and some fishing line can help remedy this. Wrap a strand of fishing line around the tree in two places (top and bottom) and affix them to two knobs on the wall will hold your tree upright and safe. Be sure to get a heavy weight clear fishing line and adhere the command strips as directed. Once it's time for the tree to come down, the knobs can as well with no damage to your wall!
Don't hook me
Hooks seem like a necessary evil when decorating the tree. Even the powder coated hooks can poke delicate fingers and toes and could be a potential choke hazard. Why not grab a few spools of decorative ribbon instead? Tie the ribbon around the ornament loops and create an instant ornament hanger without the worries! To further secure the ribbon knot, use a drop of super glue, or purchase ribbon that can be burned on the edges to create an unbreakable knot.
But I want it to look beautiful
I get it, I really do. You've always had a beautiful tree and you don't want that to change. You want your special ornaments displayed, yet still worry about safety. Why not purchase large boxes of various sizes, place heavy concrete pavers inside of them, and wrap them? Placing faux presents under the tree not only looks beautiful, but creates a barrier between your toddler and the tree. Worried about them ripping the paper off of the gifts? Consider purchasing fabric instead and reuse it every year for that perfect holiday look!
Whether its your first holiday as a parent, or you've been at this for a few years, we wish you all the best this holiday season!

Becoming Mom
Becoming a Mom was something I always aspired to do. I couldn't wait for the movement within my belly, the feeling of amazement watching an ultrasound image, and of course getting to bring my sweet baby home. When the pregnancy test turned positive, I shifted into my own kind of mommy mode. I wanted to read everything I could get my hands on. I wanted only the best for my baby and I was determined to figure out what that meant. I remember distinctly pouring over Parents magazine, asking people in online forums questions, and making plans for the nursery. The hours spent in preparation rivaled my own wedding planning a few years earlier.
Now, my oldest baby is twelve (how did that happen?). She's beautiful, smart, funny, and a wonderful human being. Looking back 12+ years ago, I realize the one thing I was missing during that phase of life was a place like Baby Moon. Sure I had the support of my friends and family, but not the support of others who were going through pregnancy at the same time as me. I didn't have a number I could call to ask personal questions and get appropriate referrals from, and I surely didn't have a singular place in my area where I could find education classes, fitness, car seat safety technicians, massage therapists, lactation consultants, and kids classes all rolled into one! Baby Moon seeks to encourage you along your path to becoming the parent you hope to be. We are the place you come before you are pregnant, during your pregnancy, and of course afterward. We are there to compassionately enjoy the wonderful times and to commiserate the tough ones. If you're pregnant in Lexington, KY, what are you waiting for? Baby Moon was created with you in mind and we look forward to seeing you soon!
